Review: Final Score Is Bautista's Own Die Hard

Earlier this year Dwayne Johnson tried to ape Die Hard in Skyscraper. Now fellow wrestler turned actor, Dave Bautista, moves to replace him at the top of the action podium.

Revolutionary leader Arkady Belav (Ray Stevenson) is betrayed by his brother Dmitri (Pierce Brosnan), and locked away. Years later, Arkady has broken out and seeks his revenge, a path that brings him to the European Cup semi-final. Somewhere in the crowd, his brother is watching the game. What he doesn't know is that Michael Knox (Bautista), a retired military man, happens to be watching the same match.
Final Score doesn't try to hide its similarities to Bruce Willis's classic action film. From tossing bad guy corpses out windows to notify the law to death defy swings from great heights, Final Score wears its inspiration proudly. While it isn't quite as good as it wants to be, it certainly tries its hardest. From a grimace inducing fight in a kitchen to a motorcycle chase throughout the stadiums cavernous hallways, Final Score is always finding new ways to up the ante.

There's not much else to say. The writing is weak, the Russian accents are a bit naff and the whole thing is covered in a sickly greenish tint that doesn't do it any favours. Is it perfect? Nah, not even close. But for what it is, a Dave Bautista standalone action vehicle, its better than what The Rock is doing these days.
