From Video Game To Movie: The Best Possible Adaptations

Video games don't have the best track record for cinematic adaptations. From Uwe Boll's blatant cash-ins to genuine attempts at quality, they range in quality from awful to watchable. The reasons why are numerous, and there's plenty of other content covering that. This is a list of potential, of what could be good, if done right.
The Modern Warfare Trilogy
In a series that draws heavily from films such as The Rock, Red Dawn, Apocalypse Now, Black Hawk Down and more, it makes sense for it to receive the big screen adaptation. But who to bring that film to reality? Michael Bay. Now, I know what you're thinking, but The Rock and 13 Hours more than prove my point. The games focus on big action, over-the-top heroes and global plots are the perfect fit for the master of cinematic explosions.
Far Cry 3
There's already been a Far Cry movie, an Uwe Boll travesty, but in the right hands the drug fuelled, manic violence of the later games could be vastly entertaining. Enter Ilya Naishuller, director of Hardcore Henry. Preferably shot in the first person, and featuring a collection of colourful characters, with the energy and pacing of Hardcore Henry, Far Cry would be an undeniably fun time.
Battle Brothers
A smaller strategy game revolving around maintaining a small band of mercenaries may not sound like the most riveting movie around, and you wouldn't be wrong. But a TV series, with the Game Of Thrones team behind, could prove interesting. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves capable of adapting the dark fantasy world of George R.R. Martin, so why not give them a shot here. Brutal, gritty and cruel would fit nicely on the small screen.
The Forest
The Descent meet Cast Away. That's the best way to describe it. A lone man, trying to survive a hostile environment with a horror twist thrown in. Preferably directed by Neil Marshall, a man more than capable of bringing the terror, it may not make for a great retelling but with a good writing crafting a tighter story, it could be something truly special.
