Review: Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life Is Both Bigger, And Better

Poor FX, a repeat plot and almost quite literally jumping a shark can't stop the Tomb Raider sequel being an excessively enjoyable film.

Following an earthquake off the coastline of Greece, and ancient temple is revealed deep underwater. Enter Lara Croft, once again played by Angelina Jolie, and the discovery of a mysterious glowing orb. The orb is soon stolen by Chinese crime lord Chen Lo (Simon Yam), working for international arms dealer Jonathan Reiss (Ciaran Hinds), thus setting off another chase around the globe. From China to Africa and everywhere in-between, the race is on for the fate of the world.

The Cradle Of Life is very much the same film as the first, albeit with more...everything. The action is bigger, the creatures are nastier, the villain is meaner and the writing is, pretty much the same. If you enjoyed Jolie kicking all kinds of ass, this time alongside Gerard Butler, then you'll get a kick out of this sequel.

While it gets a little more out there toward the end, The Cradle Of Life is unapologetically over the top. There's not much more to say. If you had fun with the first entry, you're going to enjoy this one.
