Review: Star Wars V The Empire Strikes Back Delivers A Crushing Blow

Can you say "Greatest twist in cinema history?" Not until you've seen this movie.

After the destruction of The Death Star, The Rebel Alliance's victory was short lived. Darth Vader (David Prowse/James Earl Jones) has returned with a vengeance, pursuing our heroes, Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to the frozen planet of Hoth. And thus the full power of The Empire descends upon a fractured group, desperately fighting for their lives.

If A New Hope is simple, campy fun, The Empire Strikes Back is Shakespeare in space. A tale of betrayal and of tragedy, of death and rebirth, and truly one of the greatest moments of cinematic history. While A New Hope laid the groundwork, established the characters and set a very high bar, Empire comes out swinging. From its first scene to its last, there's never a dull moment, never a point at which you feel as though nothing is happening.

But between the brilliant story telling, great characters and solid acting, there's the rage filled train of hate that is Darth Vader. One of the first things he does is choke his own admiral to death, the first of his many victims. His presence is always felt, even if he's light years away. Truly there has never been a better villain.

Much like A New Hope, if you haven't seen Empire, what are you waiting for. I mean, come on, go watch it. Stop what you're doing and do something better. And if you've already seen it...we both know you want to watch it again.
