Based on the short story by Rudyard Kipling, The Man Who Would Be King brings two of cinemas greatest, Sean Connery and Michael Caine, together in a fun, if somewhat long, tale of deception, treachery and adventure.

Peachy Carnehan (Caine) and Daniel Dravot (Connery) are ex-soldiers and best of friends, seeking fame and fortune in British India. When they here of a land that hasn't seen a white man since Alexander the Great, the form a plan. They will travel to this land and set themselves up as kings, using modern technology to subdue those living there and growing rich before returning to England with all the wealth they can carry. But, oddly enough, not everything goes to plan.

It's a simple story, one that's been around for over a century, but it works. A tale of high adventure, filled with charismatic people, fun action scenes and a fleshed out story. Cain and Connery were made to act together, each balancing out the other and they're incredibly fun to watch. While the film slows down a bit in the middle as Connery becomes regarded as a god, it still remains interesting with a few twists and turns thrown in here and there.

There's not much else to say other than that this movie is worth checking out. The Man Who Would Be King packs a great story and some great acting and one would be remiss not to mention the Gurkha, Billy Fish (Saeed Jaffrey), who steals every scene he has. So yeah, check this one out.
