Review: The Rezort is Jurassic Park With Zombies and That’s All You Need to Know.

It’s another day in paradise. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the zombies are safely stored away, waiting for the next group of thrill seekers to come along and test their aim. The Rezort is possibly the best zombie film to come out of the recent B-Movie horror boom.

It has been seven years since the outbreak ended. Since then, a small island, once infested with the undead, known as shufflers, has become a place for all to visit, relax in the sun and kill a few zombies along the way. But, when it all goes wrong, because of course it does, a small group of tourists must survive against the horde.
There’s a load of great ideas here, many of them well utilised. From an outbreak survivor seeking resolution to a man who’s there just because he’s good at it. The jaded nature of parks staff as tourists unload dozens of rounds into zombies safely strapped to targets and the contrast between the luxury cruise and hotel to the hordes that lay in wait.
Unfortunately, while the first half is original and quite well done, the second does tend to degenerate into standard zombie affair, though with enough differences to keep it interesting. There’s corporate meddling and, naturally, an undead rights group.

The Rezort is one part zombie horror and one part parody but it’s surprisingly entertaining. While it’s hardly a movie I’d watch at the cinema, it’s one I can definitely recommend for zombie fans or those looking for a little cheap entertainment.
